The liar’s paradox is a logical and philosophical puzzle. In its most basic form, a contradicting statement:

This statement is false.

There are two possible conclusions, both of which are contradictions:

  1. The statement is false, therefore “This statement is false.” is true.
  2. The statement is true, therefore “This statement is false.” is false.
